Thankful

Thanksgiving was fun this year! We were happy to have Gabe and Rhiannon with us, along with their new little boy Jayden. We are honored to have been part of his first Thanksgiving! Even though we had a great time catching up, Thanksgiving dinner still had its challenges (most of them funny in the end!). I called my mother-in-law in a panic about 15 times asking what on earth I'm supposed to do with the turkey at each stage. She is so great-she was very reassuring! After all was said and done, I forgot entirely that I had stuffed the turkey, my homemade rolls were a little like hockey pucks (but tasted great!), and I forgot a main ingredient in the cranberry casserole I made. Most everything was cold, but we all ate in classic Thanksgiving style: like we had been starved within an inch of our lives and would never live to see another meal!

We were all saved by Rhiannon's caramel cheesecake (which I understand is starting to become a legend in its own time) and Gabe's pecan pie. Pair that with Blades of Glory with Will Ferrel and that Napoleon Dynamite guy, and you've got yourself a great Thanksgiving. To make things even sweeter, Jayden went to sleep in a pile of pillows in our bedroom while we watched the movie. His cute new sounds and silly way of crawling tugged at my heart that day and still does. He is such a blessing and I enjoyed our snuggles very very much.

Hope everybody is enjoying your leftovers! I have quite a lot of stuffing and some rolls you can also play air hockey with if anyone is interested.

Our table, which turned out nice.

Happy Jayden and his mom!

I think we've all had issues with food on Thanksgiving. I gave up and found an open restaurant one year!
I'm glad you had a good time dispite the mishaps.

Still sounds lovely, despite the mishaps! That is what those early holiday years are like - such wonderful memories in the end.

I couln't help wondering... that main ingredient you forgot in the cranberry casserole... was it the cranberries? ;)
